Celebration is in the air! Summer is bringing a flurry of activity as our nation starts to lift pandemic restrictions, allowing sports to swing into full gear once again — along with life-in-person. Our students are more than ready for it.
At New Millennium Secondary School (NMSS) we are celebrating summer as we root for our athletes who all play on Gardena High teams. Being co-located on the Gardena campus means all NMSS students have the opportunity to play major high school sports on any Gardena team, while enjoying the small class size and personalized support that NMSS is known for.

Our sports teams have been in news spotlights more times than we can keep track of. Our boys’ basketball team won the CIF-Los Angeles City Section Open Division Consolation championship in 2020, our football team won the City Section Division III championship in 2019, and our girl’s soccer team won our second consecutive CIF City Championship in 2021. We have an outstanding record of accomplishments to celebrate with our co-located campus sports teams.
There’s nothing like the feeling of truly belonging to a team, and at NMSS, the level of camaraderie our students experience is second to none. We regularly hear cheering coming from every field and the glow of a sport well played shining through the smiles of our students.

Every person counts, and every team excels when we add great players. A strong example of this is our Gardena High softball team. We are currently in the third round of playoffs with a clear shot at winning the title, and yes, one of the players moving our team to victory is a NMSS student. Looking at the team, it’s clear – the friendships and bonds between our athletes are top notch.
We cheer for everyone, and they cheer for us. With the world starting to open up again, the reasons to celebrate are flooding in.
