Ok, so how can you go to high school, and college, and a hold a job during school hours? At NMSS, we offer an engaging high school curriculum and free college credit courses on campus and online . We give you a head start on higher education and we help you every step of the way. With all this extra support, working around your schedule, you can definitely earn money working a job off-campus during school hours. We are here to help!
Minimum Qualifications
At NMSS, school success is a top priority, so if you want to work off-campus during the school day, there is criteria to meet. In most cases, you need to be a senior, have at least a 2.5 GPA, and meet your A-G requirements. Why? Because we want to make sure you’re in a good place academically before taking time away from school. Besides academics, behavior good standing is just as important and we take that into consideration, too.
Speaking of qualifications, a perk of our close-knit school is we can set you up with a work permit BEFORE you apply for a job. This makes it easier for employers to hire you as they don’t have to wait for you to complete this mandatory step. Just a little way we can help you out- stop by our office and we’ll walk you through the process!

Because we are small and invested in you, we are here to help you figure out how to balance your school, work and even your social life. Want to join one of our team sports we play with Gardena High but also work? We can sit down with you and figure that out. Same goes for after-school clubs and fun events we host on campus that you don’t want to miss. Yes, sometimes there will begive and take. But as you can probably guess, these are some great lessons to learn in time management, something NMSS looooves. Insert gold star emoji here!
We’ve also put together a “college planner” calendar so you can see at a glance what’s expected of you every month of every year so that even if you’re not a senior yet, you can take steps now to ensure that you meet your goal of having the time to work off-campus during the school day.
