The first step into a new high school can be a bit intimidating, but at New Millennium Secondary School (NMSS), that first step is surrounded in support and happens before the first day of school.
We make sure our freshmen know their teachers, know how to get around, and understand the lay of the land before their first day of school. To do this, we host a special event called the 9th Grade Summer Bridge Orientation.
Starting Strong – Freshman Summer Bridge Orientation
We make sure every student is seen, heard, and feels like they belong. This is a big key to the long term positive outcomes we are known for at NMSS. By spending time with our incoming new students, we begin the work of creating community and safety together. Our teachers know they’re here with us to do more than just teach, we are extended family members of the students themselves.
Every year, the week before school starts for the academic school year, we spend time with our incoming freshmen class. New students walk, talk, and laugh together as they try on the identity of being Warriors who “bleed blue and white” and begin to experience what it means to be part of our close knit, big hearted community.

Every new chapter starts with a flood of learning, so by supporting our freshmen even before their first days, we make sure they get a jump on settling in and feeling at home in their new school.
NMSS is full of incredible teachers, caring staff and leadership, and ample opportunities for our students to participate in sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities. The list is so long that we love to give our freshmen a chance to explore and try things out for themselves before school starts. Then, once we kick off another great school year, the relationships and friendships they make only grow stronger every day.
