High School marks one of the most pivotal gateways in a family’s life. At New Millennium Secondary School (NMSS), we recognize the power and importance of this chapter in each life and so we deliver an education that spans excellent academics, deeply supportive relationships, and social/emotional learning. We wrap every day in layers of support, mentorship, and deep listening to be able to show up in the ways our students need. This is the foundation that sets our students up to be college and career ready at graduation. (Often accompanied by a cheering section sporting wild jazz hands!)
Personal Responsibility
NMSS teachers create supportive structures that teach personal responsibility, accountability, follow through, and self-awareness to prepare our graduates for their next steps in life. Many things change as students leave their family home to set off on their own, and preparing now is the best way to make a smooth transition into early adulthood. Luckily, NMSS is here for you and we are experts at teaching students how to take on the responsibility they will shoulder once they graduate.
While every student has to take their own steps towards their future, we at NMSS do everything we can to prepare them for what may come. One of the things we emphasize is to keep having fun and building deep relationships with the community around us. This is a great way to get help anytime life gets tough. In addition to making sure our students find ways to enjoy life, here are a few emerging adult skills our students develop as they move towards college and career readiness:

Willingness to Learn
We instill in our students the ability to value new experiences and a willingness to learn from whatever comes their way. One of the greatest (and sometimes most intimidating) things about the future is there is no way of knowing what will come. NMSS students receive instruction and mentorship that encourages their curiosities and inspirations so that each challenge can be seen as an opportunity, with something to learn from it.
We hold high expectations for our students and give them clear ways to meet and exceed those expectations. Time after time, our NMSS students blow us away with how much they show up, accomplish their goals, and grow faster than we thought possible. With their tenacity and insight hand in hand with a well established willingness to learn from the world around them, graduates from NMSS are college and career ready!
